NRSC Senior Advisor Daniel Huey will be the committee’s independent expenditure director for the 2016 cycle. The committee also picked Chelsea Hawker as deputy director for the IE.

“Together with our great candidates and their state-of-the-art campaigns, Daniel and Chelsea’s talent will again prove to be our competitive advantage, said NRSC Executive Director Ward Baker in a release first obtained by Roll Call. “Our committee’s confidence that we will protect the majority stems from having an unparalleled team working relentlessly to elect a group of outstanding candidates.”

In his new role, Huey will oversee tens of millions of dollars in spending on television ads and polling in the most competitive Senate races across the country.

Huey comes to the position with experience after working as deputy director of the IE unit in the 2014 cycle. The Canton, Georgia, native was previously deputy political director of the Republican Governors Association.

Hawker was deputy political director at the NRSC last cycle and the Jacksonville, Florida, native will shift over from her current role at the committee as chief operating officer to the IE side.

Recent past NRSC IE directors include veteran consultant Jeff Larson and Mike DuHaime, a longtime adviser to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Now that the Huey appointment is public, all four campaign committees have their directors in place, including Jessica Furst Johnson at the NRCC, Ty Matsdorf at the DCCC, and Mindy Myers at the DSCC.
